Questions from restaurant owners

The short version: we build your online ordering page from your website, customers pay your normal prices, and you pay 99¢ per order with no monthly fee. Details below.

What does Orda cost?

No monthly fee, no setup fee and no contract. Orda charges 99¢ per order, and only when an order comes in. In a slow month, you pay nothing.

Card payments also carry Stripe's standard card fee (2.9% + 30¢), the same kind of fee you pay when a customer pays by card at your counter.

On a $25 order you keep about $22.98.

Do my customers pay more than if they called?

Not unless you want them to. By default, customers pay exactly your menu prices plus tax, the same as ordering by phone.

If you prefer, you can pass some or all of Orda's 99¢ to the customer as an "Online ordering fee" in Settings → Checkout. It's shown clearly before they pay.

How long does it take to set up? Do I have to type in my menu?

About 10–15 minutes, and no typing. We read the menu on your website (web pages, PDFs, even photos of your printed menu) and build your ordering page automatically, with prices, descriptions, your logo and your opening hours.

You then connect your bank through Stripe, look over the menu, and you're live.

Do I need new equipment?

No. Any tablet, laptop or spare phone works as your kitchen screen: open the Kitchen page, turn the volume up, and leave it on the counter. You also get an email for every order.

How do I know when an order comes in? What if I miss one?

The kitchen screen rings until someone taps Accept and picks a ready time. The customer then gets an email telling them when to come.

If nobody accepts an order within 3 minutes, we phone the number you confirmed for calls with a short automated reminder. Calls are on by default; you can turn them off in Settings. If it still isn't accepted after 15 minutes, the order is cancelled and the customer is refunded automatically, so nobody shows up for food that wasn't made.

What if we're slammed or closing early?

Tap Pause on the kitchen screen to stop online orders for 30 minutes, an hour, or the rest of the day. Online ordering also stops automatically outside your opening hours and 15 minutes before closing.

Can customers leave special requests?

Yes. Customers can add instructions to each item ("no onions") and a note for the whole order. They show up on the kitchen screen and in the order email.

Can customers tip?

Yes, if you want them to. Customers can choose No tip, 10%, 15%, 20% or their own amount. Tips go 100% to you; Orda takes nothing from them. You can turn tips off in Settings → Checkout.

What happens if I cancel or refund an order?

The customer gets every cent back and Orda returns its 99¢. As with any card refund, Stripe keeps its card fee, which comes out of your Stripe balance.

Do you do delivery?

Orda is built for pickup. If your own staff deliver, you can turn on delivery in Settings and customers can enter an address. We don't provide drivers.

How will customers find my ordering page?

You get your own link. We'll help you add an "Order Online" button to your website and Google Business listing, and you can print a QR code for your counter, menus and takeout bags.

How do I cancel?

Any time, with no fee. Turn off your ordering page in Settings → Danger zone. There's no contract and nothing to send back.
